Ofsted Information

10th and 11th January 2018 Ofsted Visit

I am delighted to inform you that Atrium Studio School was judged by Ofsted to be ‘Good’ (with ‘Outstanding’ features).

This is a tremendous achievement. It should also give parents/carers even greater confidence in all the work we have undertaken since opening in September 2015.

During the inspection, we were judged on the five key areas listed below. There is much to celebrate in the report, as highlighted in the inspectors’ opening paragraphs for each:

1/ Effectiveness of Leadership and Management

“The principal leads the school very effectively. He has a clear vision, based on a strongly held set of values. He is focused on ensuring that every pupil can aspire to success…. communicates his beliefs clearly and, as a result, enjoys the wholehearted support of pupils, staff, parents and carers…. Leaders and teachers put an emphasis on the values of respect and tolerance for others… Leaders have created a culture that welcomes pupils whatever their previous degree of success. ”

2/ Quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment

“Teachers ensure that pupils get the work they need for them to make good progress. All pupils are assessed when they arrive in Year 9 and their strengths noted so that teachers can give appropriate work. Teachers then work with individual pupils in their classes to help them make progress. Pupils value this attention and say it is the main reason for their progress.”

3/ Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare

“The school’s work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare is outstanding. The behaviour of pupils is outstanding.”

4/ Outcomes for Pupils

“Pupils are making good progress overall.”

5/ 16 to 19 Study Programmes

“Students make good progress overall as a result of good-quality teaching, learning and assessment. Teachers take good account of the differing starting points of students and set work that challenges them appropriately.”

Needless to say, our students deserve praise and recognition for their support during the inspection. This was typical of the outstanding way in which they conduct themselves on a daily basis.

I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to parents and carers for their unwavering support. The inspectors were very impressed with the ‘team ethos’ which characterises the school: staff, students, parents and governors working together to ensure all students achieve their potential.

There are, of course, still some areas for further development. I can assure you all that we will continue to work hard on enhancing the quality of the education we offer over the coming months and years.
