Principal’s Message – 22nd January 2018

Once again, thank you all for your swift response to our recent request to complete the ‘Parent View’ survey for Ofsted. Whilst we have not yet received their final report, I can relate that the inspection team were very complimentary about the number of supportive parents that we have at Atrium. As soon as we receive the report, I will post it on the website.

The value of apprenticeships has been hitting the headlines; coinciding with the National Apprenticeship Awards which were held in London on 18th January. The award ceremony showcased a breadth of opportunities on offer in a range of dynamic industries across the country, as well as individual and employer success stories.

Mr Baldwin (our Head of 6th Form) is organising a trip for interested Year 11 students to attend the National Apprenticeships Roadshow at Westpoint, Exeter on Thursday, 1st February. The event will bring employers, schools and providers together with those wanting to find out more about what apprenticeships can offer. As spaces are limited, students have already had a reminder about this. If they are interested in attending, please tell them to see Mr. Baldwin as soon as possible.

Since the beginning of term, I have been working collaboratively with a number of Year 11 students and their parents to ensure they will be prepared to perform at their best during the summer examinations. I look forward to meeting more of you at our Year 11 Parents Evening on Thursday, 25th January. I will be available from 4pm onwards in my office, so do please pop in if there is anything that you wish to discuss.

A number of revision sessions are already underway. It is both pleasing and rewarding to see the fully-focussed participants working hard to prepare themselves for bright futures.

Matt Messias, Principal
