Atrium Students Succeed In STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Subjects

It was a pleasure for us to see our students receiving their GCSE results this year.  Not least of all because it was Atrium’s first cohort of GCSE students!

Throughout their time here, our students – although small in number – have seen significant success: including Regional Finalists in the ‘National Science and Engineering Competition’, ‘Enterprising Young Devon Awards’ and ‘Young Engineer of the Year, South West’.

GCSE Results Day was no exception, as the STEM subjects (a specialism of the school) saw an 80% pass rate in Maths, 85% in Chemistry, 90% in Physics and 95% in Biology.  DEC! (Design Engineer Construct!) is the school’s core subject, and we’re proud to report a 97% A* – C success rate!

“It is so rewarding to see our students achieving the results for which they have worked incredibly hard. They have previously demonstrated their courage by enrolling in a new school, as well as their ongoing commitment to learning”, said Sam Morcumb, Atrium’s Acting Principal.

Staff were on hand to support the students as they opened their results, guiding them towards career opportunities and future pathways.

“We are able to offer unique, bespoke career advice to all our students and are particularly grateful to Careers South West, Building Plymouth, and indeed all our industry partners, who helped to ensure Results Day was so successful,” continued Sam.

Atrium is now looking to continue and build on this success, as the next cohort prepare for their summer exams.
